*Stations called for COMMENTS only

Band condx tonight rival our worst condx ever when the net was young and only one station could copy us.  That station was about a mile distant.  No one else heard us that night; it was our shortest net. Condx tonight were not that bad, but close. Occasionally, we saw signals reduced by half in one transmission. Oddly, our path to Dave K7DV in Idaho Falls,ID persisted through the net and beyond. We’ve had one-way propagation to Dave for the last two months. Thanks to Joe W7LUX in Flagstaff,AZ for relays during ck-in and the after-net Monitor’s session.

Welcome back to Craig N6SBN in Capitola,CA. He’s near to Elecraft’s headquarters; that could be handy.

Band condx and the monthly Rainbow Canyon ARC Zoom meeting in Cedar City,UT helped limit the Roster to 17 and the FLAMP Exercise to three Ops. Mindy W7ZAP chose all THOR modes for the Exercise; they performed well in tough condx. Even so, changing condx dropped Tom WB7EUX before he could CONFIRM Exercise. Condx like tonight are what we practice for. When we can work in these condx, we should be well set for periods of limited propagation. Band condx made the short Roster welcome; we wrapped the net in 45min. Five stations took advantage of the Monitor’s session after net. Al KF5SMH in Aztec,NM popped in at the very end to CONFIRM a file; we added him to the Roster as a late ck-in and awarded him the Red Lantern. We had solid contact with everyone except Jaye KE6SLS in Eureka,CA. He’s only 90mi to our South.

Reprinted from tonight’s Announcements:

We normally don’t discuss Political/Religious topics here, but social conditions are continuing to degenerate as we attempt to sort out the the November Election. It seems prudent to strengthen and expand Amateur digital networks. Many Amateur nets are organized to support Civic agencies in emergencies.  These same nets are going to be very useful to us Amateurs, whether or not we’re needed by Clients. This is a prudent time to build linkages between existing nets and develop new nets.  We should do all we can to cross pollinate nets with liaison Ops, a normal activity for Traffic nets.

We hope some ORCA Ops living more central USA will work nets like, Buckeye Net Multi Mode and share their experience with ORCA/WDN Ops. We’re already much more than a Training net. We’re 8yrs old next month and we’ve come to know each other very well. We can depend on each other in times of need. Reaching out to other nets will strengthen us and expand our capabilities.  Your thoughts on this topic are welcome in the Comment Round.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Tonight’s FLAMP Exercise distributes the file, ‘ex199.txt’, an FLDIGI/FLMSG/FLAMP
exercise. If you complete the OPTIONAL exercise within, send that file to NCS in
the Traffic round with FLAMP.

We normally don’t discuss Political/Religious topics here, but social conditions are
continuing to degenerate as we attempt to sort out the the November Election. It seems
prudent to strengthen and expand Amateur digital networks. Many Amateur nets are
organized to support Civic agencies in emergencies. These same nets are going to be
very useful to us Amateurs, whether or not we’re needed by Clients. This is a prudent
time to build linkages between existing nets and develop new nets. We should do all
we can to cross pollinate nets with liaison Ops, a normal activity for Traffic nets.

We hope some ORCA Ops living more central USA will work nets like, Buckeye Net Multi Mode
and share their experience with ORCA/WDN Ops. We’re already much more than a Training net.
We’re 8yrs old next month and we’ve come to know each other very well. We can depend on
each other in times of need. Reaching out to other nets will strengthen us and expand our
capabilities. Your thoughts on this topic are welcome in the Comment Round.

Strange things happening here with COVID. I have never seen this happen before. When people come in positive for COVID, and they have shortnesss of breath and

pneumonia, they are OFTEN put on a ventilator. They are given fentanyl and other heavy anesthetics and paralytics so they are unconscious and cannot move. I have seen

the ER docs do this. Then I was called up to the ICU to do an arterial Doppler on one of these patients — a young man — because his left toes were turning blue.
It turns out that because the nursing staff did not turn him often enough, his posterior tibial arterial flow was occluded at the mid calf level and he may lose his

foot. My advice to ANYONE that has a loved one on a ventilator for COVID — be sure patient is turned at least every 4 hours. The nursing staff is only turning them

every 12 hours.

I have the AmRRON Intel Brief from last Wednesday and can FLAMP after net to anyone who is interested.

K7KY de KB7VX

Tnx, Bruce well, that’s a disappointing story… I hope they soon begin to turn patients when they should… this is terrible 4 people w/no say in their care…

we can take that AmRROn report during the Monitor’s session directly after net… net will be short tonite is appears… tu BK Next up 4 Comments is Mindy W7ZAP

Good work, Don these exercise are beginning to look easy, but actually, they’re not so easy… you guys have become experts at working them… these exercise

usually include most of the routines needed to forward traffic like we did in the SATERN Nationwide Exercise a couple months back.. then, our Ops were teaching the
eastern Ops how to find things on their file system, edit and forward them… all necessary somethimes anyway, we’re doing well out west

When people come in positive for COVID, and they have shortnesss of breath and pneumonia, they are OFTEN put on a ventilator. They are given fentanyl and other heavy anesthetics and paralytics so they are unconscious and cannot move. I have seen the ER docs do this. Then I was called up to the ICU to do an arterial Doppler on one of these patients — a young man — because his left toes were turning blue. It turns out that because the nursing staff did not turn him often enough, his posterior tibial arterial flow was occluded at the mid calf level and he may lose his foot. My advice to ANYONE that has a loved one on a ventilator for COVID — be sure patient is turned at least every 4 hours. The nursing staff is only turning them every 12 hours.

I have the AmRRON Intel Brief from last Wednesday and can FLAMP after net to anyone who is interested.

K7KY de KB7VX

Tnx, Bruce well, that’s a disappointing story… I hope they soon begin to turn patients when they should… this is terrible 4 people w/no say in their care… we can take that AmRROn report during the Monitor’s session directly after net… net will be short tonite is appears… tu BK Next up 4 Comments is Mindy W7ZAP

Good work, Don these exercise are beginning to look easy, but actually, they’re not so easy… you guys have become experts at working them… these exercise usually include most of the routines needed to forward traffic like we did in the SATERN Nationwide Exercise a couple months back.. then, our Ops were teaching the eastern Ops how to find things on their file system, edit and forward them… all necessary somethimes anyway, we’re doing well out west
