OK band condx again tonight.  Only two doubles all evening.  Thanks for using pre-tone when doubles are likely.  Three new stations tonight; this is becoming a regular occurance.  21 stations total; 14 in&out – 7 active.   If active check-ins continue to increase, we may have to alter our format a bit.  ORCA Welcomes Fred KI7TPD in Cedar City,UT, Joe W7RNX in Osburn,ID, and Leo KC7RKU in Panguitch,UT.  The combination of Utah and Idaho stations is sometimes a third to half the net!  Our apology to Larry K7LGM in Seattle,WA.  We miss ID’d him initially as K7LKM and thought he was also here for the first time.

ANNOUNCEMENTS 03 April 2018

Tonight’s Optional FLAMP exercise distributes ‘ex63.txt’, a digital
-traffic and file-manipulation exercise. Complete the instructions
and send the file to NCS during TRAFFIC round using FLAMP, or
send your own practice traffic or QRU.

Have you noticed the similarity between our net and an orchestra? Yes,
it sounds odd, but it’s true. An Orchestra is led by a conductor who
may or may not have written the musical score. The musicians already
know how to make music, so a qualified musician can sit in with the
orchestra and harmonize with them immediately. The director is leading
them through a particular score; they already know how to make music.

ORCA runs much the same. NCS presents the score and the members make
the music (pass traffic). Our members already know the ORCA score very
well; they play it every Tuesday evening with very little direction or
correction from NCS. Stations new to ORCA learn the score quickly because it’s played again and again each session.

ensuing tsunami.

Of approximately 2,000 K-12 school campuses in the state, consisting of about 4,400 permanent and about 4,800 portable
buildings, about 200 of those are within a mile of an active fault, and 214 of those are in moderate to high liquefaction zones.

A new study in Washingtion will look at mitigation.

Very nice copy on the ORCA Logo.

Performed our second FlDigi Over Repeater test last
Wednessday. Distant station was John, KD7NHC, at
about 70 miles in line with the mountain range. We
had 100% copy both directions.
FlDigi has all the timing systems under control, no
addjustment to the configs needed.

Last Saturday was the Finals Day for the EmComm
Level I Certification Course (reason of my absence
for the last 3 months). All passed in flying colors.

Now starts our sporting support events. Have 3 of
them at the end of this month.

Question for NCS. You sent the FlAmp file using
Domx22. I relayed in MFSK32. Do you prefer that I
use the NCS’s mode for the relays?
And I keep forgetting turn on TxID when I relay!!!!
I was goning to drop down to MFSK16. Once again
that mode did the job!

ORCA welcomes KI7TPD Fred of Cedar City,UT, W7RNX Joe from Osburn,ID, K7LGM Larry from Seattle,WA and KC7RKU Leo of Panguitch,UT. DOMEX22 didn’t do very well tonight

and MFSK32 seemed to have a bit of difficulty too, but slow & steady MFSK16 did the task tonight.

I see band condx listed as “GOOD” at propagation sites. I find they never are good for digital comms and when listed as “POOR” we actually do very well. I don’t

understand why, but that has been my experience this year.

Great to see all on the WF & hope to work with you all again soon!

WOW… that is a long list of check ins!!!

KF7YRS < K7KY For sure… we’d be in big trouble if they all wanted to ck-in active and work… we’ll have to determine a path to keep the net short enought and

still work as many Ops as we can in an hour or so… no one wants to hang around all nite waiting for a turn… btu < NCS

make a profit, it is all American

KF7YRS < K7KY Of course, I shouid have thougth of that I’m thinking we have room to manuver still some ops hold their traffic when the net is busy that

helps keep the net to a reasonable length of time… we’ll just have to trim and adjust as we go along… after 5yrs of ORCA I’m confident we can always work

out a way to anyway I can’t spell tonite… btu < NCS
