Another abbreviated net tonight. We’re still operating with the field HF station and our home antenna. I ran 50w tonight. With two stations operating so close together, we normally run 35w each. That’s usually sufficient to connect most members reliably. Some nights, condx are such that 100w wouldn’t help. I could just hear George AL7BX, portable in Escalante.UT, but not well enough to connect.

Gene W1EEP is the only station I couldn’t fill. He copied the test image better than traffic.

RX: W1EEP  UT

Our Humboldt friends are at ARC meetings tonight, but we still ck-in 13 stations. We processed one simple msg in FLAMP tonight, filling all but one station. At least we got a bit of digital traffic practice. We hope to be back to normal ORCA ops by next Tuesday. Fire outlook in improving with better WX. Possibility of light rain today and tomorrow. Thanks for your concern and support. We really appreciate you. CU next week. 73 Doug K7KY

Thurs 07sep17 Update: In spite of light rain, wind has driven the fire beyond Southern firelines. Now, 2.5mi away. Too soon to relax.

ALERT CONDITION: ROMEO ( RED )

Wednesday, September 6, 2017 – 01:46 GMT – UPDATE # 4

OPERATIONAL FORECAST. – GEOMAGNETIC FIELD. The geomagnetic field is expected to start off at quiet to unsettled levels on day

one (06 Sep). G3 (Strong) geomagnetic storm levels are likely by mid-to-late day with the arrival of the 04 CME. G3 conditions are again

likely into day two (07 Sep) due to ongoing CME effects. Day three (08 Sep) is expected to be at mostly active levels with a chance for

G1 (Minor) storm levels being reached due to the onset of a recurrent, negative polarity CH HSS, and any residual CME effects. .-

SOLAR ACTIVITY. Solar activity is expected to be at moderate to high levels over the next three days (06-08 Sep), mostly due to the

flare potential and recent history of Region 2673. Radio blackouts reaching the R1-R2 (Minor-Moderate) levels are expected for the next

three days (06-08 Sep), with a chance for R3 (Strong) radio blackouts.
